The elements of the environment that you are allowed to interact with are not highlighted in any way. On the way to the goal you need to overcome obstacles, solve puzzles. You’ll have to navigate the detailed locations yourself, as not only is there no compass or map, but there is no interface at all. The character moves between screens in real time.
